The Estonian premiere of Grisey’s spectral cycle.
The monumental work in 6 movements Les espaces acoustiques is one of the most extraordinary works composed in the late 20th century. From the scientific perspective, it is a study of timbres and overtones and of their use. From the cognitive perspective, it offers a sensual and mystical experience, with timbres and sound effects creating enchanting soundscapes.
Ensemble U: is the absolute leader in performing new experimental music in Estonia. Their projects have also made it to the greatest festival stages in Europe. The French conductor Pierre-André Valade has mainly been praised as an excellent interpreter of 20th and 21st century music. Among his numerous recordings, Grisey’s Les espaces acoustiques has gained special recognition and was awarded the Annual Prize of the Diapason magazine as well as the Grand Prix of the Charles Cros Academy.
