The National Competition for Wind Instruments is held on 7–14 December 2018. The 1st and 2nd rounds establish best players for each instrument; the winners of first places will perform with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra in a grand prix final. Therefore, the stage of Estonia Concert Hall is truly taken by the best young instrumentalists of 2018.

Two main prizes are awarded on the basis of the grand prix concert – the Grand Prix of woodwind instruments and the Grand Prix of brass instruments.

The ENSO is led by known conductor and clarinettist Toomas Vavilov.
