ASSIA CUNEGO harp
ENSO member and principal harp from 2016

Assia Cunego – a harpist who is continually treading new ground. Her harp playing has a unique range of tonal quality. Whilst remaining true to the original piece, her musicality and interpretation are also highly individual. She uses her own variation of specially developed playing and dampening techniques which make her performance not only impeccable but also very free and versatile. Assia’s rich repertoire ranges from Baroque to Classical Music, from Romantic to New and Modern Music, right through to Jazz, Free Improvisation and Religious Music.

Since 2016 she joined the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre as an Professor and is Principal Harpist with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra.

She was born in Italy in 1983 and completed her harp diploma with honors by the age of 18. At 20 years old, she had already graduated from the Master Class of Prof. Gisèle Herbet in Würzburg, Germany. She has won several first prizes and scholarships at many international musical competitions and, since the age of 19, has been a jury member herself at various harp competitions.

Assia Cunego has performed about 2500 solo concerts to date.
