The flutist Maarika Järvi and the conductor Kristjan Järvi are the members of the Järvi family that has brought much fame to Estonia and Estonian music.
Maarika Järvi works as a soloist in Paris, has many concerts with orchestras and makes chamber music. She has a long-standing collaboration with the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra. Estonian flute music has a special place in her repertoire. She has been a soloist at several premieres and also recorded Estonian music. This concert is the premiere of the Charles Coleman's orchestration of "Three pieces for the flute and piano" by Heino Eller.
Kristjan Järvi is the founder and artistic director of Absolute Ensemble that is dedicated to performing modern music. He has conducted the premieres of music by Erkki-Sven Tüür, Charles Coleman, Daniel Schnyder and Peeter Vähi. Starting from this season he is the chief conductor of the Tonkünstler, Vienna. His debut performance with ERSO took place last summer at the Estonian traditional Song Festival.
