One of the most engaging pianists of his generation, the multi-award winning Jean-Efflam Bavouzet has worked regularly with conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Sir Andrew Davis, Vladimir Jurowski, Vasily Petrenko, Daniele Gatti, Valery Gergiev, Neeme Järvi, Andris Nelsons, Ivan Fischer, and many others. Bavouzet’s international career began in 1995, when he was invited by Sir Georg Solti to give his debut with the Orchestre de Paris. Bavouzet is widely considered as the Maestro’s last discovery. “His playing represents much of what one associates with the French piano school: clear and precise articulation of notes, poised and elegant lines, sonorities that are hard and bright rather than deep.” (John von Rhein, Chicago Tribune, 19 October 2014)
ENSO will be conducted by its former long-standing principal conductor, Arvo Volmer, who has also combined lengthy appointments as principal conductor and musical director at the Estonian National Opera, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Oulu Sinfonia. This is his third year now as the principal conductor of the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento.
“Jean-Efflam Bavouzet is one of the most prominent pianists in the world at the present time – sensitive yet powerful, sophisticated and intelligent, incredibly skilful and in possession of an immense repertoire. This is a great fortune to have him perform in Estonia.” (Arvo Volmer)
