The symphony concert of the AFEKT International Modern Music Festival will present the philosophical and aesthetic common elements and differences of the festival’s central composers, Toshio Hosokawa and Märt-Matis Lill. They are reflected in extensive symphonic sound scenes with a focus on the symbiosis of archaic and eastern cultures with the modern western sound.
The programme is framed, on the one hand, by the work of the contemporary music superstar Olga Neuwirth, and on the other hand, the world premiere of the new piece by the young Estonian composer Maria Kõrvits.
The British conductor Clement Power, who is one of the most prestigious and demanded contemporary music conductors in the world, will debut with ENSO. He is known primarily for his excellent interpretations of twentieth- and twenty-first-century music. Power has collaborated with many of the most prestigious European orchestras and often performs with leading new music ensembles, such as Klangforum Wien, MusikFabrik, and others.
