Finnish pianist Antti Siirala (1979) is the winner of several international piano competitions, incl. Leeds International Pianoforte Competition (2003), and is enjoying a successful career all over the world. Though he is only 27, he has already collaborated with many famous conductors who have all invited him back for more appearances. The music by Brahms and Beethoven has a very special place in the repertoire of this young Finnish pianist. Antti Siirala has also great interest in modern music and he has performed premieres of music by composers Walter Gieseler, Kuldar Sink, Uljas Pulkkis and Kalevi Aho. Estonian audience has had the possibility to see the pianist perform several times at the David Oistrakh Festival in Pärnu.
Prizewinner at the 2000 International Sibelius Conducting Competition Stefan Solyom from Sweden has despite of his youth been conducting several well known orchestras in Scandinavia and Germany. Currently he is an Associate Guest Conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Tonight’s concert is the first for Antti Siirala and Stefan Solyom to perform with ERSO.
