On February 24 2008 the Republic of Estonia celebrated its 90th anniversary. Already at the Estonian War of Independence there was a unit of volunteers from Sweden, whereas later, during WWII, the country received tens of thousands refugees from Estonia. Today, the Baltic Sea unites Estonia and Sweden closer than ever before, although good relations between two countries and nations go back to ancient times. On this occasion Estonian composer Toivo Tulev has recast his feelings into music under code name “Musical gift for Sweden,” specifically commissioned and performed in Stockholm by Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. Also, 5th symphony by Erkki-Sven Tüür and "Symphony in Three Movements" by Igor Stravinsky create the mood at this musical birthday party, as well as Swedish guitar virtuoso Mattias Torell and Estonian Dream Big Band.
