Schubert – Symphony No 3 in D
Saint-Saëns – Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor
Rimsky-Korsakov – Symphonic Suite “Sheherazade”

Soloist: TOOMAS VANA (piano)
Estonian National Symphony Orchestra
Conductor: TOOMAS VAVILOV

The symphonic suit “Shéhérazade” is one of the most well-known compositions by the Russian Romanticist composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. The orchestral suit with an oriental influence is based on the stories The Thousand and One Nights.
The most famous of Saints-Saëns’ piano concertos is performed by the winner of several international competitions, an Estonian pianist Toomas Vana, who is now residing in Germany.
Toomas Vavilov, an excellent Estonian clarinetist, is gradually becoming more active as a conductor. From 2004 he is the assistant conductor of ERSO and is described as a “very talented and professional musician whom one wishes more motivated opportunities as a conductor” (Toomas Velmet, the weekly Estonian cultural magazine Sirp, 22.11.02)
