OPERA GALA EVENING
On Friday, January 14th, 2005, at 7 pm
in Estonia Concert Hall
Soloists:
GALINA GORCHAKOVA (soprano, Russia)
FABIO ANDREOTTI (tenor, Italy)
Estonian National Symphony Orchestra
Conductor: DARIO LUCANTONI (Italy)
In programme: arias, duets and overtures from the world-famous operas.
The Russian soprano Galina Gorchakova started her career in the Mariinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg. During the last ten years she has sung in many famous opera theatres, e.g. Covent Garden and the Metropolitan Opera. The London Sunday Times has named Gorchakova as “one of the most important dramatic soprano voices in the postwar era”. Her spontaneity, great musicality and expressivity make her Italian and Russian opera heroines – Madame Butterfly, Tosca, Aida, Tatyana, Lisa etc. – truely genuine.
The Italian tenor Fabio Andreotti has already been labeled as “the next Pavarotti”. Critics have often praised the passion he puts into songs and his powerful opera-trained voice. “I love opera,” says Andreotti. His repertoire involves major opera parts and famous Neapolitan songs.
