The annual co-operation between ERSO and the Symphony Orchestra of the Estonian Academy of Music is this time dedicated to Russian music. “Pictures at an Exhibition” has been orchestrated by many composers, most well-known being the Russian composer Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov and the French composer Maurice Ravel. The orchestration by Sergey Gorchakov in the middle of the 20th c. has not been performed in Estonia before. The premiere of Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring” caused a riot in Paris in the beginning of the last century. Its subtitle is “Scenes from Pagan Russia” and it is originally ballet music but also belongs to the main repertoire of symphony orchestras.

Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 1 is performed by an MA student of the Estonian Academy of Music, Helen Normet who has also studied in Germany and Great-Britain. She has performed with ERSO, the Symphony Orchestra of the Estonian Academy of Music and the Tallinn Youth Orchestra. It is her second season as a member of the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra.
The concert is conducted by the chief conductor of ERSO Nikolai Alexeev.
