With some 80 operas conducted and a vast concert repertoire, Patrik Ringborg is one of the most prolific conductors in Sweden. He has been principal conductor of the Freiburg Opera and the Aalto Theatre in Essen and, in 2000, the artistic director of the Kurt Weill Festival. He is currently principal conductor and music director at the Staatstheater Kassel, one of the oldest symphony orchestras in the world, founded in 1502 as a court orchestra.

Ringborg has won particular acclaim for his wonderful interpretations of German music. He is the current artistic director of the Mahler Festival in Kassel, and next year the experienced interpreter of Wagner will debut at the Royal Swedish Opera with Parsifal.

As guest conductor, Ringborg has conducted numerous orchestras in Germany and all of the more prominent Swedish orchestras, and performed concerts in Austria, France, Hungary, Finland, Norway, Ireland, Italy and Spain.
