The key phrase of the Enchanted Garden concert is Paris of the early twentieth century – as a source of inexhaustible inspiration and new ideas, this city was an attractive destination for people from different cultural traditions.

The orchestra is conducted by Ainārs Rubiķis, a Latvian conductor who has been the music director and chief conductor of Komische Oper Berlin since the 2018/19 season. His international career took off in 2010, when he won the Gustav Mahler Conducting Competition. Among his many achievements, he has also won two Golden Masks – a prestigious Russian theatre award – both in the Best Conductor category, the most recent of which he received only last year with Dvořák’s Rusalka at the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre. His first time to conduct ERSO was in 2011, when he conducted the Estonian premiere of Credo by his famous compatriot Pēteris Vasks.

Solist in the Nights in the Gardens of Spain (Noches en los jardines de España) by Manuel de Falla is a London-based Polish pianist Anna Szałucka,  who won the Tallinn International Piano Competition in 2016, where she also received several special awards, including the ERSO Prize. In the finals of the competition, she performed Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major with ERSO and conductor Arvo Volmer.

As the government decided in March to cancel all indoor public events, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (ERSO) will perform in an empty hall this month: all Friday night concerts will take place and the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the concert experience on ERSO TV and Klassikaraadio.

All tickets for performances in March can be exchanged for an ERSO TV access code, which is valid for two months, or an ERSO gift card, which is valid for 12 months and can be used to purchase a ticket for future concerts. Naturally, the tickets are also refundable. Tickets for concerts cancelled in March 2021 (5, 12, and 26 March) can be exchanged and returned until 30 April 2021.
