For the first time, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Cologne Philharmonic Hall. Built in 1986, the Kölner Philharmonie is in the fortunate position of having two resident orchestras of world repute, the Gürzenich-Orchestra Cologne, conducted by François-Xavier Roth since the 2015/16 season, and the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, conducted by Jukka-Pekka Saraste since the 2010/11 season.
In Cologne, ENSO will be conducted by the Dutch conductor Bas Wiegers.
Festival Eight Bridges has taken place every year since 2011 with contemporary music at the heart of its programme.
