Horn player Stefan Dohr has won worldwide acclaim with his flawless technique and pure intonation. Dohr, who studied in Essen and Cologne, began his career at the age of 19 as principal horn for the Frankfurt Opera House. This was followed by the same position with the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra, Nice Philharmonic Orchestra and Berlin’s Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester. In 2013, he will celebrate 20 years as principal horn at the Berliner Philharmoniker. As a soloist, Dohr has worked with numerous renowned conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Bernard Haitink, Christian Thielemann and Claudio Abbado. Dohr’s large repertoire includes pieces by classical and contemporary composers. Several composers have dedicated their works to him, for instance, the Austrian composer, Herbert Willi, and the German composer, Johannes Wallmann. In 2011, he was the soloist in the world premiere of the Horn Concerto by Japanese composer Toshio Hosokawa with the Berliner Philharmoniker under the baton of principal conductor, Sir Simon Rattle.

In addition to Mozart’s two horn concertos, where Stefan Dohr will perform the solo part, Haydn’s second Paris symphony, popularly known as The Hen, and Beethoven’s famous Fate Symphony – Symphony No 5 will also be performed.
