Conductor ARVO VOLMER
Arvo Volmer, the long-time principal conductor of ENSO and the Estonian National Opera, will conduct the orchestra. Volmer has been the principal conductor of the Bolzano-Trento Haydn Orchestra in Northern Italy for five seasons. In 2004–2013, he was the artistic director and principal conductor at the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in Australia. The second concert of the series ‘City Lights’ consists of the works that played an especially significant role for Volmer during that period.
White Ghost Dancing by Ross Edwards, one of the best-known composers in Australia, describes the particular nature and spiritual traditions of the Australian indigenous people. Symphony No. 7: Scenes From Daily Life by Carl Vine was conducted by Volmer both at the premiere and also later. Now, however, it will be played in Estonia for the first time.
Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 will be performed in the second part of the concert.
