Mati Lukk is the leader of ERSO’s double bass section. “ERSO has to be and, most probably, is happy to boast of such a bass player with the abilities of a soloist. The musicality, energy and professionalism of the man opened in every aspect,” Toomas Velmet wrote after the performance of Koussevitzky’s Double Bass Concerto (Sirp, 22 November 2002).

Clarinetist and conductor Toomas Vavilov has studied conducting at the Estonian Academy of Music under Jüri Alperten and ERSO’s long-time principal conductor Roman Matsov. He has received strong influences from the Lithuanian conductor Jonas Aleksa. He has been music director and principal conductor of the Vanemuine Theatre, conductor of the symphony orchestra of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and ERSO’s assistant conductor. “Toomas Vavilov is a very talented and professional musician, and I wish him continuing motivation and new opportunities in the position of a conductor.” (Toomas Velmet, Sirp, 22 November 2002).
