Age Juurikas is a solo pianist and chamber musician who combines European and Russian piano-playing traditions in her fierce and suggestive performances. The pianist, who studied in Tallinn, Helsinki, Karlsruhe, and Moscow, has won numerous awards at national and international competitions. 15 years ago, Age Juurikas received the Neeme Järvi Prize for young musicians; in 2014, she received the Annual Music Award of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia as an active and unique soloist and ensemble partner. Her debut record The Soul of Fire was published in early 2018.
Age Juurikas: ‘I have played the majority of Rachmaninoff’s extensive piano repertoire with great pleasure. The sound of Piano Concerto No. 4 has already distanced from that of its predecessors, leaving behind the endless vastness of the steppes and replacing it with more modern sound images. I have always been enchanted by the darkness and tenderness of this piano concerto.’
