Several of the works on the programme were first performed exactly 100 years ago at the Estonia Concert Hall. Composer, Artur Kapp’s own dedication on the manuscript for his cantata “To the Sun” reads, “In commemoration of the opening of the Estonia theatre in Tallinn.” The opening ceremony also presented “Sanctus” from the oratorio “Jonah’s Mission” by Tobias. ERSO’s season opening concert, which will also present important later works by Villem Kapp, Eller and Tubin, will be conducted by principal conductor and artistic director of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Neeme Järvi.
