‘She won the audience over with her outstanding technical mastery presented with composure and astonishing maturity.’ This is how the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung describes Ye-Eun Choi, a Munich-based young violinist from South Korea, who will perform as a soloist in the opening concert of the 93rd season of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. In 2005, the 16-year-old talented violinist caught the attention of Anne-Sophie Mutter, who has praised her individual expression as well as her extraordinary and instinctive sensitivity to tune and music: ‘… a soloist who does not just perform a piece, but makes it her own.’ Her tight schedule has allowed Ye-Eun Choi to perform with the top orchestras and conductors in the world. In March 2019, she made her debut with Orchestre National de France with conductor Riccardo Muti; in June, she performed a solo concert at the Bergen International Festival with the BBC Philharmonic, and then went on a tour to South Africa with Sibelius’s Violin Concerto. This masterpiece of violin repertoire will also be performed in Tallinn.

The second half of the concert includes Volksfest by Bruckner – an earlier version of the final of the Symphony No. 4, also known as Romantic – and Helgoland, a patriotic cantata that will bring the concert together beautifully along with Northern Coast by Villem Kapp.
