The Sibelius Festival, organised for the 19th time this year, annually welcomes the admirers of Finland’s most famous composer in Lahti. The festival organised by the Lahti Symphony Orchestra was initiated in 2000 with the opening of the Sibeliustalo concert centre, which has wonderful acoustics. The festival’s artistic director and the current principal conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra is Dima Slobodeniouk – a conductor who has also worked with the ENSO on several occasions and is currently making a name for himself in the world.

Maestro Neeme Järvi and the ENSO are making their Sibelius festival debut. Neeme Järvi – a legendary Sibelius conductor who has recorded the entire orchestral repertoire of Sibelius with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra for the record label BIS – highly values the participation of the ENSO at the festival in terms of the national and cultural relations between Estonia and Finland: ‘Taking part of the Sibelius Festival is very important for me. It is a great pleasure to be able to celebrate a historical event so significant to both countries – the passing of 100 years from the declaration of our independence.’

Tickets: €64 / €35 / €25 (50% discount for students and schoolchildren)
The concert is produced by Sinfonia Lahti
