Erkki-Sven Tüür’s cello concerto will feature Theodor Sink as soloist. He has proved himself a capable chamber musician as well as a remarkable soloist. He is continuing his studies in Helsinki, under the guidance of professor Marko Ylönen at the Sibelius Academy. Brian Current’s piece “A Young Person’s Guide to New Music” introduces to listeners features common to 20th and 21st century music. The topics include form, rhythm, pitch, harmony, texture, colour, melody, performance contexts and electronic music. The actor and composer Ardo Ran Varres will also be participating in the event.

“The phenomenon of music is that it can show us aspects we previously had no clue about. Music has the power to change our range of thoughts and emotions; therefore, enabling us to see things in a new light,” explains Kristiina Poska in an interview for the journal Muusika in 2013. “Astonishing! Excellent! Superb! Memorable! Kristiina Poska is fantastic!” were Kirke Ert’s comments in Postimees about the audience’s impressions of ENSO’s final concert of the previous season, conducted by Kristiina Poska.

Kristiina Poska concluded four years as the first kapellmeister at the Komische Oper Berlin, and will continue as a freelance conductor from the 2016/17 season. Poska’s numerous recognitions include prizes from various competitions, including the renowned German conductor prize (Deutscher Dirigentenpreis) from 2013, as well as being included on a list of the 25 most interesting Berliners by the German newspaper Tagesspiegel during the same year. In spring 2016, she was selected as the busiest female conductor of the year, in a list compiled by the international music portal Bachtrack.com.
