Russian pianist Vadim Rudenko has won prizes and awards in various international competitions, including the “Concertino Praga” competition (1982, first prize), the Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels (1991), the Paloma O’Shea Competition in Spain (1992) and twice at the international Tchaikovsky Competition (third prize in 1994, and second prize in 1998). Celebrated by audiences as well as critics, Rudenko is primarily recognised for his technical perfection as well as the depth of his musical interpretations. Rudenko has been invited to play with many of the world’s leading orchestras and appears often at renowned music festivals as a soloist and chamber musician.

The concert is conducted by former principal conductor of ENSO, Nikolai Alexeev, whose hometown is St. Petersburg and who is now working mostly with the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. The programme features the Concert Fantasy for piano and orchestra, and the “Manfred Symphony” by Tchaikovsky based on Byron’s poem “Manfred”.
