MADIS KARI clarinet

Madis Kari started his clarinet studies at the Haapsalu Music School. He continued his studies at the Tallinn G. Ots Music School with Olev Pikknurm and Estonian Academy of Music with Prof. Hannes Altrov. In 1993 he studied at the London College of Music with David Campbell and continued his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Julian Farrell. In 1997 he successfully entered the postgraduate course at the Royal College of Music (Prof. Colin Courtney), where he won the Frederick Thurston Clarinet Prize and the Senior Exhibitioner grant in the same year. In 1998 he won Third Prize in the HOWARTH UK Clarinet Competition with pianist Marko Martin.
After graduation Madis Kari worked as Principal Clarinet at the Richmond Chamber Symphony and taught in several schools in and around London. Since 2002 he has been working in c clarinet position at the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, since 2006 as co principal clarinet. He often plays with the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra , NYYD Ensemble and Nordic Symphony Orchetra. In 2006 he represented Estonia in World Philharmonic Orchetra in Paris. Madis is also very active chamber musician and soloist with many different ensembles.
